About the visual timer
A visual timer shows time as a colored disk that shrinks as the minutes pass, so children who can’t read a clock yet (or find numbers stressful) can still see how much time is left. Teachers and parents use them for transitions, routines and SEN support.
Ways to use it
- Transitions: "when the red is gone, we tidy up".
- Autism, ADHD and SEN routines and calm-down time.
- Screen-time limits and chores at home.
Frequently asked questions
Why use a visual timer instead of a normal timer?
Young children and many neurodivergent learners understand a shrinking shape more easily than numbers. Seeing time "run out" reduces anxiety around transitions.
Can I hide the numbers?
Yes. Untick "Show numbers" and only the disk is displayed.
