Fraction Wheel

Spin a fraction. Draw it, compare it, simplify it.

Or drag a screenshot or file onto this box, or paste a screenshot with Cmd+V / Ctrl+V. Names are read on your device and never uploaded.

Each picture becomes a slice, named after the file (e.g. ana.jpg → Ana). Pictures stay on this device and aren’t included in share links.

Tip: add *3 after an entry (e.g. "Pizza *3") to make it three times as likely.

About the fraction wheel

Spin for a common fraction and use it however your lesson needs: draw it as a shape or on a number line, find an equivalent fraction, or spin twice and compare which is bigger.

Ways to use it

  • Draw the fraction as a shape and on a number line.
  • Spin twice: which fraction is bigger?
  • Find an equivalent fraction or convert to a decimal.

Fraction games with the wheel

Spin a fraction and ask students to shade it on a fraction bar, place it on a number line between 0 and 1, or name an equivalent fraction (3/4 = 6/8). Spin twice and compare: which is bigger, and by how much? For older students, add or multiply the two fractions and simplify the answer.

Which fractions are on the wheel

The wheel has 18 proper fractions in simplest form, with denominators 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10. Every fraction is less than 1, so the wheel works well for number line and comparison practice. Add improper fractions such as 5/4 or 7/3 on new lines if your class is ready for them.

Frequently asked questions

How do I compare two fractions?

Give them a common denominator, or convert both to decimals. For example, 2/3 ≈ 0.67 and 5/8 = 0.625, so 2/3 is bigger.

Are all the fractions in simplest form?

Yes, every fraction on the wheel is already simplified.

Is the wheel really random?

Yes. The winner is chosen by your browser’s random number generator before the wheel starts turning, and every slice has the same chance.

Can I save or share my wheel?
