About the random team generator
Paste your list of players, set "Split into" to the number of teams, and click Make groups. Names are shuffled and dealt out evenly, so team sizes never differ by more than one, and nobody gets picked last. Spin the wheel afterwards to choose captains.
Ways to use it
- PE and recess teams without the "picked last" problem.
- Trivia night and game night teams.
- Pickup soccer, basketball or office sports teams.
Fair teams without picking captains
Picking teams in the playground leaves someone chosen last. A random draw avoids that: type the names, set the number of teams, and press "Make groups". Teams differ in size by one at most. If skill balance matters, put the strongest players on their own wheel and split them first, then the rest.
Re-drawing and keeping teams
Not happy with the draw? Press "Make groups" again for a new random split; agree on how many re-draws are allowed before you start. To keep a set of teams for the season, copy them into a note or save the list of players with "Save".

Frequently asked questions
How do I make random teams?
Replace the sample names with your players, set "Split into" to the number of teams, and click Make groups. Click again for a fresh shuffle.
How is this different from the group generator?
They work the same way. This page is set up for sports and games teams; the group generator is set up for class project groups.
Is the wheel really random?
Yes. The winner is chosen by your browser’s random number generator before the wheel starts turning, and every slice has the same chance.
Can I save or share my wheel?
Click "Save" to keep the wheel in My wheels in this browser, or "Share wheel" to copy a link that opens your exact list on any device.
